I just want to thank you for this. My husband, daughter and I were outside all night fighting the torrential downpour that overwhelmed our drainage system and flooded the back of our house. We are still so very fatigued and "out of it", all three of us. Also we have an extremely large tree in the yard behind us that the owner refuses to deal with and the whole storm I was listening to see if it would come crashing down. You have just helped me realize and put words to what I am experiencing. We got out of it "easy" compared to some but we are impacted. We looked at compensation for loss of income that's available but the hoops we would need to jump through are just too much at the moment.
Thank you for listening to my post and for placing a comment here. You give a really poignant and tough example of how impacting the cyclone was. I am sorry you and your family had such a scary and exhausting time with the flooding at your place. I also hear you about the nerve-jangling worry about the big tree falling. When such a lot of loss and devastation was happening it can seem as though our own experience isn't important, and as I mentioned in the post, little recognition was given to the individual experience and emotional impact. When you had loss of income on top of it all that is quite threatening isn't it. Wishing you much support and only good from here on :)
